Some weeks ago one of our collectors visited our Museum and asked afterwords, if the sample dolls in porcelain, which were produced for the Resin collections, are still present. For sure they are here, because Hildegard Guenzel took them back from the Resin factory abroad.The customer was so very pleased and all employees in our Manufactory had much fun to revise these porcelain dolls and to hand them new outfits. Dresses, wigs, shoes and accessories are not identical with the later produced Resin Dolls. Thus if the original dress was not available, we sometimes choosed dreamful, high quality childrens clothing from different designers.So we created modern children made from porcelain, which are quite different to the children of our Porcelain Lines.These dolls are one of a kind pieces, which are made only once in this special outfit.We are more flexible in the pricing, because these dolls in porcelain are already existing and no production costs and molde costs have to be added.
These dolls are a chance for collector, who desired to own a Hildegard Guenzel doll since a long time. All these dolls have jointed heads!

Princess Xenia is back to St.-Petersburg!
Every year the organizers of the “Doll Time” Exhibition invite one especial doll – V.I.D. – very important doll in the doll world. This is a rare, unique, valuable doll, with great history; the doll which very few people saw and very few will see somewhere out of the exhibition; the doll from a private or a museum collection. In December the invited guest is the porcelain doll by the famous German artist Hildegard Gunzel “Russian Princess Xenia”.
This history began exactly 100 years ago. In 1908 Great Russian Prince George Romanov presented to his four-year daughter Xenia a mohair bear of "Steiff” company for Christmas . Xenia loved it very much and left it alone very seldom. Therefore in 6 years when she went to England to visit her cousin king George V, she took the favorite bear with her. As the fates decree, Xenia never returned to Russia. At first - the First World War, and then, Bolshevist revolution and destruction of all imperial family.
Being filled with this touching story about the girl and her favorite bear, Hildegard Gunzel (one of the most known doll masters in the world) created a magnificent composition for Echelle company – «Princess Xenia and her favorite Teddy-bear Alfonso».
And here, after many years Princess Xenia comes to St.-Petersburg to the International Exhibition of dolls and Teddy-bears «Doll Time in St.-Petersburg ¹2 – WINTER»
The doll Xenia and a limited edition of teddy-bears Alfonso were created especially for Russia.
The unique opportunity to see and buy this doll will have the visitors of the “Doll Time” Exhibition. We want to believe that Xenia will stay in St.-Petersburg.

В декабре приглашенной гостьей стала фарфоровая кукла известной немецкой художницы Хильдегард Гюнцель «Русская княжна Ксения».
Эта история началась ровно 100 лет назад. В 1908 году Великий русский Князь Георгий Михайлович Романов подарил на Рождество своей четырехлетней дочери Ксении мохерового медвежонка фирмы «Steiff». Ксения очень любила его и редко с ним расставалась. Поэтому через 6 лет, когда она отправилась в Англию в гости к своему кузену королю Георгу V, она взяла своего любимца с собой. Судьбе было угодно, чтобы Ксения больше никогда не вернулась в Россию. Сначала - Первая мировая война, а затем, большевистский переворот и уничтожение всей царской семьи.
Проникшись трогательным сюжетом о девочке и её любимом мишке, Хильдегард Гюнцель (одна из самых известных в мире мастеров-кукольников) создала для компании Echelle великолепную композицию – «Княжна Ксения и любимый медвежонок Альфонсо».
И вот, спустя много лет Княжна Ксения приезжает в Санкт-Петербург на Международную выставку кукол и мишек Тедди «ВРЕМЯ КУКОЛ в СПб №2 – ЗИМА»

About the artist - Rose Marie was born and raised in sunny, beautiful South Africa. Creating with her hands and involvement in all sorts of art came naturally to Rose Marie. She began making porcelain dolls in 1989. At that time she discovered her real love and passion for doll making - which has become her lifes work. Being entirely self taught, she has been able to develop her own unique style - creating realistic character faces.
